Sephora Adventure

Sephora, my darling.
This past year I developed a minor makeup obsession, thus comes, Sephora adventures! Below are a couple of recent purchases and gifts that I want to discuss.  Lets get into it...

YSL Lipstick: here

I'm late to the game in the lipstick department, I'm not one to do bold lips.  I tend to go with my Pink Nivea Shimmer Chapstick most days.  However, once fall started, along with my new job I decided I needed to experiment (especially to try and distinguish myself from high schoolers since I'm close to their age).  Right before school started I hit up Sephora and bought one of the lesser expensive lip sticks, Urban Decay Backtalk (here) [Ironic name right?].  It's a mauve pink color.  I really enjoy wearing it.
I recently picked up this gem below, YSL Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick in 22 Rose Celebration.  I love this one!  I think it's going to be absolute perfect color for me for spring and summer!  Also it's hydrating as well, and the packaging is gorgeous.  I tested several lipsticks and find myself steering clear of the ones that are drying to my lips.  So I'd definitely recommend both this one and the urban decay one.

Nars Blush/Bronzer Duo: here

I've been wanting to try a Nars blush for awhile now but haven't brought myself to purchase one.  Luckily my friend Resa was to the rescue and picked me up this duo for Christmas to try! Not only do I get to try the infamous Nars Orgasam but I get to try their bronzer as well.  I've tried the blush once so far and really liked it.  It's very pigmented and doesn't require a lot of application to be noticeable.

Clinique Face Serum: here

I was using a Clinique foundation back in the summer and on one of my Sephora trips a sales associate gave me a sample of this Clinique Serum.  I liked it a lot, but it was rather expensive even for the smallest of bottles so I didn't go back and get myself one.  However, for Christmas I got a gift card and decided I'd purchase this.  It is supposed to correct dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles.  I'm aware that I'm not super old, but one thing I'm constantly hearing from older women is to take care of your skin/face when you're younger, the sooner the better.  Therefore, time to go ahead and take preventative measures!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: here

HOLY GRAIL.  I love love love this stuff!  If there is ever one expensive beauty product I'd recommend it would be this.  It's my favorite mascara that works wonders for my lashes considering that I 1. Have blonde hair so my lashes aren't dark, and 2. they aren't thick either.  It was the first one I tried and I was hooked.  Although I did try a couple after this one just to be sure it was as fabulous as I thought.  It was!  I tried Benefit's They're Real, and DiorShow.  FYI, while I did like Benefits They're Real in the sense that it lengthened my lashes, it was such a pain to get off that I would never repurchase it again.  DiorShow was good as well just not as volumizing as I would like.  If you need thickening and volumizing, get this, you won't regret it!

Share with me your recent Sephora favorites in the comments below! I love trying new things!

  1. I so agree about taking care of your skin! I put something with SPF on my face and my neck every single day, even if the sun isn't shining. I use Clinique's SPF 25 cream on my face (it doubles as a makeup primer) and I put a little neutrogena dry-touch sunscreen on my neck (yes, sunscreen.) my mom has put some product with SPF on her face since she was in her 20s, and her skin really shows it (almost no wrinkles!) love the post barbs! Xoxo resa
